Starting School

New ISA Families

Prior to the first day at ISA, you will receive information about the first days of school, ID cards, school supplies lists, our cafeteria service, school store, bus service, car parking, and our calendar/special events.

Between acceptance to ISA and a student’s first day of school, please ensure that you have completed the following tasks:

Upon starting at ISA, you will receive information about accessing the parent and community portals.

Intake Appointments

All new students are required to attend an intake appointment with a member of our faculty. At least one parent must be present through the duration of the appointment, and the intake is arranged for you by the Admissions Office. As part of the intake process, families are also required to complete a health form for the school nurse. Please ensure that you have immunization records and up to date medical information available.

Upper School students only

All non-native English speakers accepted to the International School of Amsterdam will be assessed for English proficiency. Students for entry into Grade 10 must demonstrate a minimum of intermediate proficiency in academic English.  Students coming into Grade 11 must demonstrate advanced proficiency in academic English.

Students entering Grades 9 and 10 will be assessed in Mathematics. These assessments will aid our faculty in determining the best fit for each student’s mathematics capabilities. We strongly recommend that assessments be conducted at the current school to ensure better facilitation of student placement. If this is not possible, assessments may be conducted at ISA prior to the student beginning classes. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information.
