Ron

Dr. Ron Ritchhart, Principal Investigator for the Cultures of Thinking Project and Senior Research Associate at Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Ron’s research focuses on understanding, supporting, and helping to develop the kinds of thoughtful learning environments that foster powerful learning for both students and teachers.

Ron currently directs the worldwide Cultures of Thinking Project aimed at supporting teachers in the creation of classrooms where thinking is valued, visible, and actively promoted. Before coming to Project Zero, Ron taught elementary and middle school for 14 years, receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. Ron has authored numerous books and articles as well as directed videos that explore how teachers foster understanding, nurture creativity, and make thinking visible.

He is the author of several books including Intellectual Character: What it is, Why it matters and How to get it, (2002) and Making Thinking Visible: How to promote engagement, understanding and independence for all learners, (2011) and Creating Cultures of Thinking: The 8 forces we must master to truly transform our schools (2015).
